Notes	Rio Rancho’s fifth annual Pork & Brew BBQ State Championship in conjunction with World Cup Bull Riding – complete with live entertainment, fun jumps, pig races, kids corral, and, of course, food galore. For those interested in judging at this years’ Pork & Brew, certification classes are March 27, 6-10 p.m., at the Main Tent at the Santa Ana Star Center. The Pork & Brew is sponsored by the Rio Rancho Convention & Visitors Bureau, and is a fully sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society event - one of the top 10 events on the Society calendar. With more than 30,000 in attendance last year, Pork & Brew has become one of the largest two-day events in New Mexico. Winners go on to participate in Kansas City, KS at the Nationals.

Fifth Annual Mayor's Dog Ball

How many fun, social events allow you to bring your pets?

On Saturday, March 29, you can do exactly that at the fifth annual Mayor’s Dog Ball at the Albuquerque Balloon Museum.

Join Mayor Martin J. Chávez and First Dog Dukes at a gala event benefiting Albuquerque Kennel Kompadres, the non-profit group that supports the Department of Animal Welfare.

Happy -- or “Yappy” -- Hour starts at 5:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.

The Rio Grande Canine Freestylers will provide entertainment and Back In The Day will provide music for dancing until 10 p.m.

Individual tickets are $100 ($75 of which is tax deductible). A table for eight is $750.

Newspaper columnist Jim Belshaw of the Albuquerque Journal and radio host Donnie Chase of 100.3 The Peak are hosting the event.

Dress is business casual.
